Agnellus of Naples
Agnellus of Naples (* 530 /535 in Naples , † December 14 593/595/596/600) was an abbot in San Gaudioso near Naples. He died at the age of 61, his epitaph is still preserved.
Adoration and patronage
In the 11th century the subdeacon Peter from Naples created a collection with the "Miracula S. Agnelli". He has been one of the cartridges of Naples and Guarcino ( province of Frosinone ) since the 15th century . He has been venerated in Lucca since the 12th century.
He is the namesake of the municipality of Sant'Agnello .
Representations
He is depicted as a monk in a white tunic with a black wrap - his right hand raised in blessing - with 2 coats of arms, each with a goat at his feet.
