Agnellus of Pisa

Agnellus von Pisa (* 1194 in Pisa , † March 13, 1232 (?) In Oxford ) was a Franciscan who is venerated as a blessed in the Roman Catholic Church . His festival is on May 13th .

Life

In 1217 St. Francis sent him to France . There he worked as curator of Paris . In order to establish a religious province in England, he went there in 1224, where he established new convents in Oxford and London . With Robert von Grosseteste he won an important teacher for the House of Studies in Oxford . The royal family was very dear to him.

Adoration

Pope Leo XIII. said Br. Agnellus beatified in 1892. In Christian iconography , Br. Agnellus is depicted in the habit of a Franciscan with a hood pulled over and documents in his hands.
