Agneta Stark (born February 9, 1946 ) is a Swedish economist .

Life

Stark graduated from Stockholm University as an LL.M. from. She then graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics with a bachelor's degree in economics before completing her Ph.D. - returned to Stockholm University. In the 1990s she was a lecturer at Stockholm University. In 1999 she accepted an appointment as “Professor for Gender and Economic Change” at Linköping University . From summer 2004 she was rector of Dalarna University . In 2010, Marita Hilliges followed her in this position. In April 2013 she was appointed to the board of directors at Borås University.

Stark's work focuses on gender studies , gender mainstreaming , paid and unpaid work, especially with regard to activities of women in families and households as well as generational, family and gender solidarity in the European welfare state.

In addition to her academic work, Stark was a consultant in particular to the Swedish government and the International Association for Feminist Economics . In 2012, she was President of the IAFFE for one year. In the 1990s she was one of the initiators of the organization The Support Stockings , which campaigned for a higher proportion of women in higher administration, parliament and government in Sweden.
