from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Association for Feminist Economics ( IAFFE ) is an international association of economists , politicians, students and activists with the aim of improving the situation of women and other underrepresented groups. Its headquarters are in Lincoln, Nebraska .

background

The suggestion to found the IAFFE came in 1990 at the annual congress of the American Economic Association , when the seminar entitled “Can Feminism Find a Home in Economics?” Was very popular. After two years of consultation and deliberation, the organization was formally founded in 1992. In 1997 the international non-governmental organization was granted consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations . In 2010 the organization lost this status because it had not submitted the intended four-year report.

The IAFFE, led by an eight-member board and nine assessors, represents around 400 members. In addition to economists, scientists from other disciplines and persons in training are also members. The IAFFE pursues the achievement of the goals of exchange and the establishment of the feminist perspective in the economy with regular events and the publication of the journal Feminist Economics by the British publisher Routledge .

The IAFFE holds an annual conference.
