Barbara Bergmann

Barbara Rose Bergmann (born July 20, 1927 in New York City , † April 5, 2015 in Bethesda , Maryland ) was an American economist . She was a professor at American University and the University of Maryland, College Park .

Life

Barbara Bergmann received a Ph.D. from Harvard University. During John F. Kennedy's tenure , she served on the President's Advisory Board. She also worked as an employee of the Authority for International Development and the Office for Labor Market Statistics. In the 1980s she wrote a monthly economic column for the New York Times . She has served as President of the Eastern Economic Association , the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics of the American Association of University Professors, and the International Association for Feminist Economics .

Scientific work

Bergmann's main interest was the distribution of roles between the sexes in business, labor market theory and the computer simulation of national economic systems.
