Agome Mountains

The Agomegebirge is a mountain in Togo at the former slave coast of West Africa , and forms the southwestern foothills of Apossogebirges (Akpossogebirge) with which it formerly known Fetish mountains forms part of the drawn-northeast-southwest southern edge of the plateau of the West Sudan. Today it forms part of the Togo Mountains .

The Agome Mountains reach a height of 980 m in the Agu Mountains to the east . Previously, there was here a caravan of Baguida on the coast of Kpando on Volta , by a high, five days' journey from Lome remote station Misahöhe (established in March 1890 ) has been secured.

The beautifully formed mountains consist of gneiss , granite and sandstone , the southern foothills of the hilltops and slopes are covered with a rich layer of humus . The vegetation is very lush, u. a. with a rich inventory of rubber clianas . Indigo and rice are grown.

There is rain in all seasons, although the climate is healthier than on the coast.
