Agualva is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Sintra . The community had 35,619 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011). Agualva is the largest of the four parts of the city of Agualva-Cacém .

With the territorial reform of September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Agualva and Mira Sintra were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Agualva e Mira Sintra . Agualva is the seat of this newly formed community.
