Aguelmis Rojas , full name Aguelmis Rojas de Armas , (born March 28, 1978 ) is a Cuban athlete who received Uruguayan citizenship in 2014 .

Career

The 1.77 meter tall Rojas is active in the running disciplines on the long distances and there especially in the marathon . At the 2001 World Half Marathon Championships in Bristol , UK , he finished 52nd. In 2003 he took part in the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo and came fourth in the marathon competition. He was a member of the Cuban squad at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He finished the Olympic marathon in 47th position. At the Central American and Caribbean Championships in 2005 , he won the 10,000 meter run. The following year he placed 5th in the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games marathon competition . 2007 followed a 55th place at the road running world championships in Udine, Italy .

In 2014 he received the Uruguayan citizenship and won the Montevideo marathon as well as the local half marathon. He then took part with the Uruguayan team in the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto . There he took 7th place in the Martahon competition with a personal best of the season.
