Agustín Carlevaro

Agustín Carlevaro Casal (born January 6, 1913 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † May 11, 1995 ibid) was a Uruguayan guitarist , arranger and architect .

Agustín Carlevaro comes from a family closely related to music. The son of the medical doctor Juan Carlos Carlevaro learned to play classical guitar like his brother Abel Carlevaro from Pedro Vittone , whose pupil he was from the age of twelve to the age of 17. His uncle was already a well-known guitar maker. Alvaro Carlevaro , son of Agustín Carlevaro's cousin Héctor Carlevaro, has lived in Germany since at least the early 1990s, where he performed as a composer and guitarist. The guitarist César Amaro , a nephew of Hector Carlevaro , is also part of the family. In 1963 Agustín Carlevaro began making tango arrangements for solo guitar. From 1972 he recorded a dozen long-playing records on different labels . Agustín Carlevaro is known as the best guitar soloist in Uruguay in the field of tango.
