Ahmad Khan Mahmidzada , alternative spelling Mahmoodzada (born December 23, 1997 in the province of Parwan in Afghanistan ) is an Afghan actor .

Mahmidzada is best known for his role as Hassan in the film Kite Runner , based on the novel by Khaled Hosseini . In the 2007 movie, Mahmidzada, directed by Marc Forster, plays the loyal servant and friend of the boy Amir (played by Zekeria Ebrahimi ). Due to the difficult political situation in Afghanistan, the shooting took place in the People's Republic of China .

In a key scene of the film, the boy Hassan , who belongs to the Hazara ethnic group that is discriminated against in Afghanistan , is beaten up and brutally raped by the older boy Assef (played by Elham Ehsas ). The filmmakers wanted Mahmidzada to take off his pants to shoot the rape scene, but his father refused. The boy later said that he would never have accepted the role had he known that Hassan was being raped. However, reports vary on whether or not you informed your family. The scene was cut afterwards and no longer contains any nudity. However, a double was used to briefly show how the pants are pulled down.

The American film critic Roger Ebert wrote in his film review in the Chicago Sun-Times of Kite Runner about Mahmidzada and his film partner: "The portrayals of the actors who play Amir and Hassan as children are natural, convincing and powerful."
