In his childhood Ahmad was fascinated by music and loved making music. Already in kindergarten he sang "Joije Shir" in the choir group, which was led under the supervision of Ustad Nasar and Ustad Gholam Hussein Khan Nataki (father of the famous Baba-e-Musiqi). Later Ahmad Morid attended primary and secondary school, the "Habibiya Kabul" high school. In 1971 he also attended secondary music school. There Ahmad learned to play the harmonium , which later turned out to be decisive for his music. He also honed his singing skills and was professionally guided by his teacher, Ustad Salim Sarmast. After his additional musical education, Ahmad Morid appeared on stage more and more often and enjoyed steadily increasing popularity.

Career

After finishing school, Ahmad Morid got the post as an official on " Radio Afghanistan ". Already at this point he caught the attention of many people and it was not long before the young Ahmad got permission to appear on the radio regularly. In 1975 he sang for the first time on Radio Afghanistan and his popularity spread like wildfire. Ustad Nainawas composed the first song for him with the title: " Sitaragan bochanet ba Aseman rasanen Awase qalbe mara ba khakashan rasanen ". Later sang Ahmad Zahir , the most famous pop singers of Afghanistan, this song and took it finally at "Afghan Music". In the same year, Ahmad Morid composed two more songs. The first song with the lyrics by Hafez: " har giz as jaade man on sarwe cheraman narawat har giz as mehree tu as lahe dil-o-jan narawat ". Then the second song came out with its own lyrics: " mina ye man biya maye man ". The success of this song can still be felt today and is significantly related to the upswing of Morid's career. With these two songs, Ahmad Morid achieved national fame. In the end he devoted himself entirely to music and gave up his civil service. Like many thousands of other people, he was jailed in 1979 under the Taraki and Amin government . There he was sentenced to death by the anti-democratic government. He was imprisoned for eight months, waiting to die. However, Ahmad Morid continued his artistic activity while in captivity. He was not deterred and wrote many songs in prison. For example, the famous songs " hagar dam masanet yaran dam masanet " and " Isq-o-Gonaiye Watan " were written on death row and were recorded after his release. After eight months, Ahmad Morid was released and in the same year got the lucrative post as music director on Afghan television. However, he could not enjoy his regained freedom for long, because only a short time later he was assassinated during a concert, but it failed. Several Islamic fundamentalists with submachine guns stormed the concert hall and opened fire. Ahmad Morid escaped but had to leave his home. The escape from what was then Soviet Afghanistan led Morid to Moscow. From 1980 to 1988 he studied law in the Russian capital and successfully completed his doctorate . In Moscow, too, Ahmad Morid remained musically active and gave many concerts. He also won first place at the then largest festival in the Soviet Union for Asian satellite states , the "International Voice of Asia". In the following years Morid did not settle down and lived temporarily in Kazakhstan and Tajikistan . He married in Tajikistan and had two children, a girl and a boy. Eventually Ahmad Morid fled to Germany. He settled in Heidelberg and moved to Munich in 2007. Morid regularly gives concerts in various cities in Germany, but also abroad. His greatest dream of giving another concert in Kabul came true in 2007.

music

Bringing Morid's music to a catchy denominator is not easy. In a very unique style, traditional and oriental elements mix with ballad-like touches of the chanson , lead western and oriental ears into wide spaces of imagination and create inner landscapes. " This is music that doesn't stop after three meters and is gone again, " said one listener. The texts deal with the human-love-society spectrum. During his performances, Morid accompanies his voice himself both with the keyboard and with the harmonium and sometimes has alternating accompanists on the tabla or another keyboard. Ahmad Morid composes, sings and writes texts. He also helps young singers find their way, such as Ahmad Jawid Sharif. He himself says: " I learned everything I can from the country's great musicians ". According to Ahmad Morid's own statement, the following personalities have had an influence on his musical life:
