Ahmet Berman (born January 1, 1932 in Istanbul , † December 17, 1980 ibid) was a Turkish football player . Through his many years of work for Beşiktaş Istanbul and Galatasaray Istanbul , he is associated with these clubs. On the fan and club side, he is seen as an important player in club history. He was part of the Turkey squad for the 1954 World Cup . Due to his slightly stooped posture, he was called Kambur Ahmet (English: humpback Ahmet) during his active days .

Player career

society

Ahmet Berman started professional football in the late 1950s in the youth of Karagümrük SK and played here until the summer of 1953.

He then moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul , where he quickly became one of the top performers on his team. He later became one of the two main players in the first major transfer dispute in Turkish football history. For his services and for the services of Ahmet Şirzat Dağcı , the clubs Beşiktaş Istanbul and Fenerbahçe Istanbul fought and outbid each other. Fenerbahçe tried above all to oblige Şirzat Dağcı and Beşiktaş Ahmet Berman. Fenerbahçe had suited Beykozspor for the commitment of Şirzat and negotiated the details. At that time, Beşiktaş Beykozspor submitted a higher offer for Şirzat and caused great outrage at Fenerbahçe. In return, Fenerbahçe came to an agreement with Berman. After weeks of mutual accusations, the Turkish Football Association mediated and ensured that Şirzat stayed with Fenerbahçe and Berman with Beşiktaş.

At the special request of her trainer Leandro Remondini , Berman signed in the summer of 1959. Here he established himself straight away as a regular player. With his team he won the Turkish football championship in 1961/62 and 1962/63 .

For the 1965/66 season he moved to Vefa Istanbul and played a season here. In October, Barman persuaded his former teammate Hilmi Kiremitçi , who was now a player- coach at the second division Sivasspor , to move to this club. Barman played for this club until the summer and then ended his active playing career. He said goodbye on June 26, 1968 with a farewell game between Galatasaray Istanbul and an all-star team.

National team

Ahmet Berman was part of the Turkish national team during the Football World Cup in 1954 , but was never used. He made his international debut a year later during a friendly against Portugal. He completed a total of 29 games for the Ay-Yıldızlılar and played two of these games as team captain.
