Ahr Bridge (Rech)
The Ahrbrücke or Nepomukbrücke in Rech , a municipality in the Ahrweiler district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), is a stone arch bridge over the Ahr that was the only one that was preserved during the floods of 1910. It is a protected cultural monument .
The quarry stone bridge, around 43 meters long and up to five meters high, has four flat arches and a brick parapet. It was built in the first half of the 18th century and today connects the town center with federal highway 266 . The original stone figure of St. Nepomuk from the 18th century, which stood on the parapet, was plunged into the Ahr and destroyed by American occupation troops in 1919. A new figure was donated by the Eifelverein in 1920 .
