The Aichi E13A ( Japanese 零 式 水上 偵察機 , rei-shiki suijō teisatsuki , German "Type 0 reconnaissance floatplane", allied code name: Jake ) was a single-engine Japanese ship-based reconnaissance aircraft from World War II .
history
The E13A was a low- wing seaplane with folding outer wings and two large floats. The first reconnaissance flight before the attack on Pearl Harbor was made by an Aichi E13A.
E13A were stationed on the following ships, among others: the battleship Haruna , the cruisers Atago , Chikuma , Chōkai , Kinugasa , Kumano , Maya , Suzuya , Takao and Tone , and the seaplane carriers Chitose , Chiyoda and Kimikawa Maru .
A total of 1418 E13A1s were built from 1938 to 1945.
