Aidonia (musician)
Aidonia (* 6. April 1981 as Sheldon Aitana Lawrence), sometimes Idonia , is a Jamaican dancehall - Deejay . He is a member of the deejay association The Alliance .
biography
Aidonia was born on April 6, 1981 in the Red Hills, metropolitan area of Kingston , Jamaica. He is the second of four children. His mother was a teacher and his father was a former soldier. His stage name is made up of the first two letters of his second name Aitana and the nickname Donia . He had received this in his youth as a football player. Aidonia attended Mona Primary School in Mona . He then moved to Meadowbrook High, from which he was expelled because of the formation and attitude of a gang ( Bad Company ). He attended this school up to high school.
According to his own admission, Aidonia's career began when he watched a video of a 1993 deejay clash between Beenie Man and his idol Bounty Killer while he was in high school . Then he decided to become a deejay himself. He began by recreating this and other clashes in front of friends and classmates, and began to write his own lyrics. Then Aidonia founded the sound system JAG1 Crew ( Jah A Guide ) together with friends . However, after he was expelled from school, he moved to the United States with his father . There he worked in New York at the company FedEx as supplier. Over the next three years, Aidonia kept returning to Jamaica and was also active in the New York dancehall scene. There he was encouraged to return to Jamaica and devote himself to his career as a dancehall deejay.
After Aidonia has returned to Jamaica, he learned to deejay and producer Goofy , also known as Mr. G know. In October 2003 the first single was released on his label Young Blood with the name "Many a Dem" . Then began his work with the label owner of Orizen Entertainment , Rod Pinnock , and in spring 2004 Aidonia Deejay was the weekly event in Kingston Battle Thurstdays . In the second half of 2004 Aidonia got in touch with the music producer Cordell "Skatta" 'Burrell, who let him record in his studio. Two months later Aidonia had his first hit on Skattas Irish Dance Riddim called "Lolly" . This was included in October 2005 in the annual CD box "Strictly The Best" (Vol. 33) of the label VP Records . In 2006 Aidonia worked with the Jamaican dancehall deejay Bounty Killer and was accepted into their deejay association The Alliance . Together they released the song "Sen Fi Di Guns" on the 12-gauge riddim . After this collaboration, Aidonia became known internationally and was booked all over the US and the Caribbean. But in the same year he left the Alliance, together with the Deejay Vybz Kartel , after disputes. After Vybz Kartel founded his own Deejay crew called Portmore Empire, Aidonia joins them. In 2007 the first album called "Then And Now" was released on the Skatta Productions label . In 2010 it was reported that Aidonia is now a permanent member of the deejay association The Alliance.
