Aiolos (progenitor)
Aiolos ( ancient Greek Αἴολος , Latin Aeolus "Aeolus") is the name of a son of Hellen and the nymph Orseis in Greek mythology . He is considered the progenitor of the Aioler family , his brothers are Doros and Xuthos .
When his father Hellen divided his kingdom among his sons, Aiolus settled in Thessaly and became king there. With Enarete , the daughter of Deimachos , he became the father of numerous sons and daughters. The children of Aiolos and Enarete are the sons Sisyphus , Kretheus , Athamas , Salmoneus , Deion , Magnes , Perieres and Makareus as well as the daughters Kanake , Alkyone , Peisidike , Kalyke and Perimede . In addition, other children are also ascribed to Aiolos, such as Arne and Melanippe .
Among his descendants is Odysseus , the hero from Homer's Odyssey .
