fleet
Up until the end of flight operations in February 2004, Air Kazakhstan's fleet consisted of 30 aircraft:
- 12 Antonov An-24
- Ilyushin Il-86 2
- Tupolev Tu-134 A 1
- Tupolev Tu-154 B 7
- Yakovlev Yak-40 8
Incidents
- Air Kazakhstan was involved in a serious air accident in the air: On the evening of November 12, 1996 an Ilyushin Il-76 of Air Kazakhstan with 27 passengers and 10 crew members on board collided with a Boeing 747-168B of Saudi Arabian Airlines ( flight 763 ) over the village of Charkhi Dadri, Haryana (India), so that both fell on fields. All 349 occupants of both machines were killed.
The reason was human error on the part of the Air Kazakhstan pilots, who did not understand the instructions and warnings of the local air traffic control, which - as is customary internationally - were given in English. This was and is so far the most serious collision in the air in civil aviation and the third most serious accident ever (see also Kazakhstan Airlines flight 1907 ) .
