Aisha al-Gaddafi

Aisha al-Gaddafi (also Ayesha Gaddafi , Arabic عائشة القذافي, DMG ʿĀʾiša al-Qaḏḏāfī ; * 1976 in Tripoli ) is the only biological daughter of the former Libyan ruler Muammar al-Gaddafi and his second wife Safaja Farkasch .

Life

She is a lawyer by profession. From July 2004, she was part of the legal team of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein . She has been married to Army Colonel Ahmed al-Gaddafi al-Qahsi , a cousin of her father, since 2006 . In 2009 she was made an Honorary Ambassador of the United Nations Development Program , where she campaigned against the spread of AIDS and the oppression of women in the Arab world. However, the UN split from her during the 2011 civil war . On August 29, 2011, heavily pregnant, according to Algerian information, she fled with her mother and two brothers to Algeria , where she, like some other members of the Gaddafi family, received a right of residence and asylum . She has lived in Oman since 2012 , where she also received political asylum.
