Akdere was a municipality in the district of Silifke in the Turkish province of Mersin . Since a regional reform in 2014, the place is no longer a municipality, but a district of the district town of Silifke.
Akdere is located in the southwest of the district about 25 kilometers west of Silifke on the coastal road D-400 from Antalya to Mersin . The distance to the Mediterranean Sea is about 2.5 kilometers. Akdere is located at the southeast end of the Akçalı Dağları mountain range.
Tokmar Kalesi castle ruins are located two kilometers northwest of the village on the Kale Tepesi mountain spur .
