Aki Sirkesalo
Aki Pekka Antero Sirkesalo (born July 25, 1962 in Toijala , Finland , † December 26, 2004 in Khao Lak , Thailand ) was a Finnish musician and television presenter .
Life
Sirkesalo grew up in his native Toijala, where he played the trombone in the brass band of the volunteer fire department. Later he also played the trumpet and guitar. In the mid-1980s he was a founding member of the band Giddyups . From 1990 he was a member of the a cappella band Veeti & The Velvets .
From 1994 he devoted himself to his solo career. His debut album Mielenrauhaa was released in 1995 and reached number 11 in the Finnish charts. Four more studio albums followed in the years to come. The last album Sanasta miestä was released posthumously in 2005 .
Sirkesalo died with his wife and two children in the tsunami after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake in Khao Lak, Thailand . The bodies were found in March 2005 and, after identification, transferred to Finland where they were buried in Sirkesalo's hometown Toijala .
