Akihiro Ishiwatari

Akihiro Ishiwatari ( Japanese 石 渡 明 廣 , Ishiwatari Akihiro ; born August 27, 1958 in Yokosuka ) is a Japanese jazz and rock musician ( guitar , also drums ).

Akihiro Ishiwatari worked in the Japanese jazz and rock scene from the 1980s; The first recordings were made in 1985 during a performance at the Tokyo New Jazz Festival in the band Thorn (with Tetsuji Yoshida , Hideo Tokioka , Masaki Shinoda , Shuichi Chino , Takeharu Hayakawa , Teiu Nakamura ). In the following years he played a. a. with Akira Sakata , Shoji Aketagawa , Yoriyuki Harada ( Ehyang 1988, with Andrew Cyrille ) and in the Takeshi Shibuya Orchestra, in the 1990s with Hiroshi Itaya & Guilty Physic, Shun Sakai , Eiichi Hayashi and Hiroaki Katayama . In the field of jazz, Tom Lord lists him in 13 recording sessions between 1985 and 1998. In later years he formed a jazz trio with Yoichiro Kita (trumpet) and Yasuyuki Ttakahahi (trombone); he also played in a duo with pianist Takeshi Shibuya.

In the 1980s and early 1990s he was also a member of the prog rock and experimental bands Pungo and Salt (with Nobuo Fujii , Takeharu Hayakawa ). He was musical director of the Butoh formation Dairakudakan and also directed the bands Mull House and Quiet Storm .
