Active banks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aktivbanken is a former Danish credit institution which existed from 1970 to 1994 and was most recently based in Vejle , Region Syddanmark (Region Southern Denmark).

history

Aktivbanken was created in 1970 through the merger of Horsens Bank , Vejle Bank , Kolding Folkebank and Kolding Låne- og Discontokasse . In 1988 Aarhus Diskontobank and in 1992 Sydfyns Discontobank were taken over. The bank's headquarters were then moved to Vejle.

In 1990 Aktivbanken was taken over by the insurance group Topdanmark and then concentrated on insurance-related banking services. The takeover caused a stir at the time because Topdanmark had apparently acquired the bank on overpriced terms. In the same year the German subsidiary Aktivbank AG was founded in Stuttgart .

In 1994 Topdanmark sold Aktivbanken to the Danish company Sydbank , which still operates under this name and is based in Aabenraa , Denmark . This integrated the 40 branches in East Jutland , in Trekantområdet ("triangle area") into its branch network.
