Al-Shushari ( Arabic ابو الحسن الششتري, Spanish Sustari , with full name Abu 'l-Hasan Ali bin Abdallah an-Numairi asch-Schuschtari , * 1212 in Exfiliana near Guadix ; † 1269 in Damietta ) was an Andalusian Sufi and poet . He was a student of Suraka al-Shatibi and Ibn Sab'in .

Some of his works were in prose, he was known for his rhymes, which were intended to be sung with simple melodies, and often in the form of muwashshah and tzajal . These were very well known in his Sufi community, the Shushariyya. Many of his verses, especially the 62 short poems called "Tawishih", made their way into the classical music of Andalusia, which is still sung today in Morocco and Algeria. The best known is "A Little Sheikh from Meknes" ( Arabic شويخ من أرض مكناس).
