Al Laney
Albert "Al" Gillis Laney (born January 11, 1895 in Pensacola , Florida , † January 31, 1988 in Spring Valley , New York ) was an American sports journalist.
Life
Al Laney was a tennis correspondent for the New York Herald Tribune newspaper . He was also known for reporting in other sports. He later worked for the Paris Herald , now the International Herald Tribune . His book "Courting the Game" is still one of the most important on tennis today . In 1979 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame .
