Alnair (spelling of the IAU ), also Alpha Gruis , α Gruis or α Gru ( Bayer name ), is a star in the southern sky about 100  light-years away in the constellation crane (Grus) in the southern sky. Alnair is a main sequence star of the spectral type B6 and, with an apparent magnitude of 1.7 mag, is one of the 50 brightest stars in the night sky.

The proper name Alnair goes back to the Arabic star name Al Nair "the light one".
