Al Reinert

Al Reinert ( 1947 - December 31, 2018 ) was an American screenwriter , film producer and director .

Life

Reinert produced the 1989 documentary For All Mankind - A giant leap for mankind on the Apollo program of NASA , the 1990 Best Documentary for the Oscar nomination. In 1995 he wrote the screenplay for Ron Howard's Apollo 13 , for which he was again nominated for an Oscar, this time with William Broyles junior . Three years later, he worked on the script for HBO - miniseries From the Earth to the Moon with that also the Apollo program dealt with the story. He also wrote the script for Final Fantasy: The Powers in You , the first fully computer-animated film with a largely realistic representation of people.
