Alain Derobe

Alain Derobe (born February 23, 1936 in Paris ; † March 11, 2012 there ) was a French cameraman .

Life

The son of a film critic attended the École Louis-Lumière until 1958 and then the IDHEC until 1959 , where he received all-round training in camera technology. Derobe then took over his first jobs as a camera assistant , where he had also been involved in films with Jean-Paul Belmondo (" The Millions of a Hound ", "Candy with Pepper") under his teacher Henri Decaë in the early 1960s . In 1963 Derobe got his first engagement as head cameraman and initially designed the optics of some speculative B-films by José Bénazéraf with (by today's standards extremely harmless) sex interludes. In 1968 Peter Fleischmann brought Derobe to Germany for his staging of hunting scenes from Lower Bavaria ; it was to be Derobe's first quality film.

In the period that followed, other renowned directors also hired Derobe, and he worked a.o. a. with Claude Berri , Helma Sanders-Brahms , Jean-Claude Brialy and Luis García Berlanga . The majority of his works up to the end of his career at the beginning of the 1990s are disappointing, however, and Derobe did not shy away from camera work on soft sex erotica such as "Unrestrained Erotica", First Sehnsucht and "Joy - Temple of Lust" . At the beginning of the new millennium, Derobe continued his professional education and worked as a stereographer in several films shortly before his death ; so also in 2010/11 with Wim Wenders ' 3D dance film documentary about Pina Bausch , Pina . He also taught at the European Film Academy about this new profession .

Alain Derobe was married to the French actress Marie-France Mignal (* 1940).
