Alain Weill (art critic)

Alain Weill (born September 7, 1946 in Paris ) is a French art critic and exhibition organizer.

Life

Alain Weill attended the École pratique des hautes études and then studied law. He is a master of semiology and art sociology.

Weill worked as a curator at the Musée de la Publicité in Paris from 1971 to 1983 . From 1990 to 2001 he was artistic director of the Festival international de l'affiche et du graphisme de Chaumont . He is President of the Jury for the European Advertising Awards, EPICA. Weill specializes in advertising posters and poster art and has curated numerous exhibitions on this subject and published books and exhibition catalogs.

Weill has also worked as a gastronomy critic since 1991 , was appointed to juries and wrote magazine articles and books on culinary topics.

Weill was appointed Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1997 and Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Mérite in 1995.
