Alajdin Abazi ( Macedonian Алајдин Абази ; born November 1, 1942 in Tetovo , Kingdom of Yugoslavia , now North Macedonia ) is a North Macedonian professor and physicist .

Life

Abazi graduated from the University of Zagreb with a degree in electrical engineering in 1965 and obtained his master's degree from the same university in 1973. In 1977 , he received his doctorate from the University of Zagreb on the subject of the storage and neutralization of electrical charges in insulating films .

From 1966 to 1969 he worked as an engineer in the region. In 1969 he joined the faculty of the University of Pristina , where he served as dean of the technical faculty (1979-1981), and in 1985 he became a professor in the department of electrotechnical theory.

From 1982 to 1990, in addition to his academic work, he was elected chairman of the board of the “Inkos” institute for research and development and vice-chairman of the board of the electrical industry in Kosovo. He was a member of the YU - United States of America Cooperative for Science and Research.

His school interests, skills and command of many foreign languages ​​have enabled him to give lectures and devote himself to research abroad, including extensive periods at the University of North Wales in the UK , Iași in Romania , Tirana in Albania and at the Academy of Science and Art in the People's Republic of China . He was a Fulbright scholar at West Virginia University in the United States . Abazi has published more than fifty scientific articles and has participated in many scientific projects.

In 2001 Abazi was appointed director of the Southeast European University . When the building of the university was completed and the university opened, he was appointed its rector .
