Life
Rankin began his career in the early 1990s, making his debut with the Chris Columbus comedy Kevin - Alone in New York . He mainly worked in film, including three films by Wolfgang Petersen : Outbreak - Silent Killer , In the Line of Fire - The Second Chance and Troy . He only worked occasionally for television, including on Steven Spielberg's 2010 miniseries The Pacific . He also worked on two computer games in the Resident Evil game series.
In 2010 he and Mark P. Stoeckinger were nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Sound Editing for Star Trek . Between 2000 and 2014 he was nominated 16 times for the Golden Reel Award , but has not yet won this award.
