Alarico Silveira Júnior

Alarico Silveira Júnior (born April 7, 1924 in São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian diplomat .

Life

Alarico Silveira Júnior is the son of Alarico Silveira, who was Luís Pereira de Sousa , State Secretary in the Washington government . He married Maria Regina Moritze Figueiró and entered the foreign service on December 15, 1945 and became consul in Quito .

In 1947 he completed the Curso de História Diplomática do Brasil of the Rio Branco Institute and one year later became chargé d'affaires in Beirut . He was also the embassy secretary in Zurich (1953), Stockholm , Lisbon and Oporto (1959) and from 1960 to 1961 first class secretary of the embassy in Asunción . In 1961 he was appointed Legation Councilor and was appointed Deputy Head of the Foreign Minister's Office until 1963.

Subsequently, Silveira was promoted to the Consul General in Montevideo , where he headed the Informaciones department. Under João Augusto de Araújo Castro, he was seconded to the printing house of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, whereby an appointment as ambassador in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic remained without consequences.

In 1966 Silfeira was as charge d'affaires in Montevideo used from 1973 to 1977 as ambassador in Quito called. In 1982 he represented the Brazilian government at the Organization of American States and was ambassador to Athens from 1984 to 1988 .
