Alban Beikircher (* 1968 in Bruneck , South Tyrol ) is an Italian - Swiss violinist .

Life and work

Alban Beikircher completed his university studies with Joshua Epstein in Saarbrücken and in the soloist class of Yfrah Neaman at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. An extensive concert activity led Alban Beikircher to almost all European countries, to Israel, China, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

He played on important stages and festivals: Gasteig Munich, Philharmonie Cologne, Max-Joseph-Saal of the Munich Residence, Villa Musica, Barbican Center London, Schleswig Holstein Festival, Windsor Castle, Philharmonie Essen, Kurt Weill Festival Dessau, White Hall Stuttgart, Beethovenhaus Bonn, Maria Laach Abbey, Aachen Cathedral, La Madeleine Paris and others

In the Mozart year 2006 Alban Beikircher played together with Anthony Spiri at the invitation of the Philharmonie Essen in a five-part cycle all of WA Mozart's sonatas, combined with contemporary works.

As a soloist Alban Beikircher played with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Romanian State Philharmonic Arad, the Symphony Orchestra of the Szeged State Opera, the Silesian Chamber Philharmonic in Katowice, the Stuttgart Chamber Symphony and others.

While still a student he was guest concertmaster with the Folkwang Chamber Orchestra and the Pottersbar Symphony Orchestra London.

In addition to some radio recordings, numerous CD recordings were made with major labels (Sony BMG, ARS, Koesel, EMEC).

Alban Beikircher was the musical partner of artists of various origins, including Christoph Soldan , Alfredo Perl , Senka Brankovic , Daniel Müller-Schott , Mirijam Contzen , Anthony Spiri, Sebastian Hess , Bernd Glemser , Mathias Huth, Roy Howat , Matteo Andreini and Benedikt Koehlen.

After working as a violinist in the ETA Hoffmann Trio, he was first violinist in the ARION Quartet and violinist in the Balance Trio for many years. Since 2006 Alban Beikircher has been the first violinist of the Korngold Quartet, which he founded.

Since 1995 Alban Beikircher has been a violin teacher at the Bad Saulgau City Music School , where he also directs the “Tonkunst” festival that he initiated.

In 2008 Beikircher founded the Junge Philharmonie Oberschwaben (JPO), a national project orchestra for young people between the ages of 14 and 20, which develops central works of the classical-romantic repertoire. In 2016, Beikircher as conductor and leader as well as the JPO received the cultural award of the Kulturforum Landkreis Sigmaringen and the advancement award of the Bruno Frey Foundation.

Alban Beikircher is strongly committed to contemporary music and brought u. a. Works by Ernst Krenek , Wilfried Hiller , Andreas N. Tarkmann , Peter Michael Hamel , Klaus Hashagen , Tobias Peschanel, Andru Matuschka and Alexander Krampe for the world premiere.

Beikircher plays a Martin Schleske violin .
