Albanello Bianco is a white wine variety that is grown in the Italian region of Sicily . In general, it is made into a good Marsala- style dessert wine . This wine has an impressive longevity. Their cultivation is recommended in the Free Community Consortia Caltanissetta and Enna and is allowed in Syracuse . At the beginning of the 1990s, the area under vines was 238 hectares .

The Albanello Bianco grape variety is also known under 14 other names: Alablanca, Albanella, Albanello Bianco, Albanello Bianco di Siracusa, Albanello di Siracusa, Alvanella, Alvanello, Arnina Bianca, Arvanella, Arvina, Avvina, Claretta, Fumisi and Fumusa .

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. She is hairy white wool.
  • The medium-sized leaves are five-lobed (see also the article leaf shape ).
  • The conical to cylindrical grape is medium-sized and quite dense. The elongated berries are small and whitish in color.

The grape variety ripens about 30 days after the Gutedel and is therefore considered to ripen late. The yield of the grape variety varies greatly.

Albanello Bianco is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting. In viticulture , the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield is avoided.
