Albano Salem is an East Timorese politician and civil servant.

Career

Salem previously worked as National Director for Vocational Training (DNAFOP) in the Ministry of Education when he was appointed State Secretary based in Oe-Cusse Ambeno (Secretário de Estado residente em Oecussi) in the 1st East Timorese government on July 26, 2005 . He held the office until May 19, 2007. On May 19, 2007, the III. Government of East Timor under Prime Minister Estanislau da Silva takes office. Salem was reappointed State Secretary for Oe-Cusse Ambeno the day before by President Xanana Gusmão , but he and his office are missing from the official cabinet list of the government, which existed only a few months before the 2007 regular elections . With the elections there was a change of power.

Salem returned to the post of National Director of Vocational Training. He was later promoted to Director General for Secondary and Vocational Education in the Ministry of Education. On May 14, 2019, Salem became National Director for Civil Protection (DNPS) in the Ministry of the Interior .
