history

The group of companies has its origins in the worsted spinning mill in Breslau acquired by Leopold Schoeller in 1849 , which the latter renamed Schoeller's worsted spinning mill . In 1867, his son Rudolf Wilhelm Schoeller (1827–1902) relocated the headquarters from Breslau to Zurich-West to the area at the Hardturm , whereby the Breslau plant was initially managed by his brother (Philipp Eberhard) Leopold Schoeller and then by Rudolph's grandson Leopold (1878–1936 ) continued to operate as a branch until its closure in 1925. Rudolf himself and later his sons founded or acquired further worsted yarn factories and dye works in Schaffhausen , Sevelen SG , Rüti GL , Derendingen SO in Switzerland, as well as in Bregenz in Austria and later in Křešice in the Czech Republic . In the meantime, the worsted yarn spinning and weaving mill Eitorf AG was taken over from Germany in 1908 , the wool yarn factory D. Finkh GmbH & Co. KG in Süßen and the worsted yarn factory in Hard, Austria . Rudolf Schoeller's sons and grandsons also dared to move to the USA where they opened a sales office in 1939, a dyeing and finishing company in 1946 and an industrial yarn spinning mill in 1978.

After Ulrich Albers was accepted as a new partner in 1953, after the death of the last partner and grandson of Rudolf Wilhelm, Walter Schoeller , in 1979 all of these companies traded in the name of the Albers family, who were related by marriage to Schoeller and friends & Co . In 1997 the hand knitting yarn division of Schoeller Eitorf AG and the worsted yarn spinning mill Stahl in Süßen was renamed Schoeller & Stahl GmbH , in which the German Schoeller AG held the majority. The individual companies of Schoeller Textil AG in Switzerland were also merged to form Schoeller Switzerland with its headquarters in Sevelen. In addition, a real estate division was added as a second pillar in Zurich and Bregenz, in order to be able to influence both the allocation of commercial real estate and company apartments for employees.

Thus the original worsted spinning mill has transformed into an internationally active group of companies with a focus on textiles and real estate.

In 2009, the individual companies were reorganized as part of a management buy-out . As a result , the real estate companies Schoeller2Welten in Bregenz and Hardturm AG in Zurich, the logistics location Eitorf AG , Schoeller Süßen GmbH and Schoeller Switzerland based in Sevelen remained with Albers & Co AG . In contrast, the Schoeller GmbH & Co factories in Bregenz and Hard and in Křešice in the Czech Republic were merged to form the new Schoeller Spinning Group .
