Albert-Louis Chappuis (born March 5, 1926 in Vulliens , † June 26, 1994 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss farmer and writer .

Chappuis initially wrote numerous essays and short stories for newspapers that describe rural life in Vaud . In 1951 he was awarded the Prix ​​de la Nouvelle for this , and in 1953 the Prix ​​Agir . From 1955 he wrote over a dozen homeland novels , which he published in his own publishing house, Editions Mon Village , and which he was able to sell in relatively large editions in French - speaking Switzerland - and soon also in German-speaking Switzerland .

He later also published works by other authors, such as Bernard Clavel and André Besson , whose 1973 novel Le Village englouti (filmed in 1976) became a bestseller with over 50,000 copies sold .
