Albert Maucher Prize
The Albert Maucher Prize for Geosciences is named after its founder and geologist Albert Maucher (1907–1981). Since 1981, it has been awarded every two years by the German Research Foundation to young scientists who have achieved excellent research results with funds from the German Research Foundation. According to the will of the founder, unconventional research approaches and methods should also be honored. Albert Maucher was also funded by the DFG at the beginning of his scientific career .
The prize is endowed with around 10,000 euros (20,000 marks until 2002). The Albert Maucher Prize is the most prestigious award in the geosciences.
