Albert Beckmann

Albert Beckmann (born January 23, 1833 in Wesel , † July 5, 1922 in Bocholt ) was a textile manufacturer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Beckmann attended high school in Wesel and then various technical schools. He took over J. Beckmann Textilwerke (today: Ibena) in Bocholt from his father. He was also a city councilor, member of the district council and from 1884 and 1887 to 1909 of the Westphalian provincial state parliament , the chamber of commerce and other corporations.

From 1884 to 1893 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Münster 3 Borken , Recklinghausen and the German Center Party . In 1893 Beckmann, although an official candidate of the Center Party, was not re-elected because an internal party opposition sent the master carpenter Jakob Euler into the race as a further center candidate .
