Albert Cahen
Albert Cahen (born January 8, 1846 in Antwerp , † February 27, 1903 in La Turbie ) was a French composer .
life and work
Cahen, son of a Belgian-Jewish banking family, was a student of César Franck . Above all, he composed works for the stage.
Of his works, the following are particularly noteworthy: The Poème biblique Jean le précurseur (Paris 1874), the Opéra Comique Le bois (1880), the Poème mythologique Endymion (1875), the Féerie La belle au bois dormant (Geneva 1886), the four-act opera Le Vénitien (Rouen 1890), the Ballet La fleur de neige (Geneva 1888) and the Opéra Comique La femme de Claude (1896). Songs by Cahen were also valued.
