Albert Ferber (* 1923 ; † 2010 ) was a German wrestler.

Life

He started wrestling in Schifferstadt when he was 12 years old . Otto Heissler , a former top wrestler, was his first teacher. In 1941 he won the German youth championship in the Greco-Roman style in the class over 70 kg body weight. In 1942 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht and did not return from captivity until 1948 . But he immediately resumed training and was soon back in the first team of VfK Schifferstadt , which was one of the best wrestling teams in Germany at the time. 1950 was his most successful year. He was first in Ludwigshafen am Rhein German light heavyweight champion, Greco-Roman style, ahead of Herbert Krauskopf , Eckenheim, and Herbert Albrecht , Zella-Mehlis , then he fought for himself in Ebersbach an der Fils also the title in the free style light heavyweight before Alex Kommerell, Stuttgart , and Heinz Duffner, Freiburg im Breisgau . However, the motor mechanic at the Deutsche Bundesbahn did not achieve any further successes at German championships. Albert Ferber fought quite successfully in the first team of VfK Schifferstadt for many years and became one of the teachers of Wilfried Dietrich , who began his career in 1950 as a youth in Schifferstadt. Ferber died in 2010 at the age of 87 and was buried on September 14, 2010 in his home town of Oftersheim .
