Albert Fischer (pedagogue)

Albert Fischer (born November 5, 1830 in Triesch , Moravia , † December 11, 1913 in Vienna ) was an Austrian educator .

Life

Albert Fischer came from a Jewish family. He first worked as a teacher in Lundenberg . He was then appointed head of the Israelite children's institution , which had existed since 1843 and where in 1868 he was the first in Austria to set up an educational institution for kindergarten teachers based on Froebel's principles . He also participated in the creation of the ministerial kindergarten ordinance of 1872. In addition, Fischer was an expert at the Ministry of Education and was responsible for the small child's pavilion at the 1873 World's Fair as the main employee . He was also a co-founder of the Association for Kindergartens and the Kindergarten Journal, which he headed until 1886.
