Albert Hettrich

Albert Hettrich (born July 26, 1952 ) is a German politician . From 1999 to 2009 he was State Secretary in the Saarland Ministry for Economy and Labor (from 2007: Economy and Science). He is currently the general representative of Stahl-Holding Saar and President of the Saarhütten Association.

biography

After graduating from high school in 1972 at the Staatliche Realgymnasium St. Ingbert and doing military service, Hettrich studied economics at Saarland University until 1978 and was also active in university politics during this time. After graduating with a degree in business administration, in 1978 he became a policy adviser at the CDU Saar regional association and regional manager of the CDU SME Association. From 1981 to 1989 Hettrich was employed in various functions in the Saarland State Chancellery , where he rose from speaker to deputy head of department. In terms of content, he dealt with topics in the iron and steel industry and mining.

After having worked in the preparation and coordination of the merger of Saarstahl AG and Dillinger Hütte , he switched to Saarstahl AG himself in 1989 and to Dillinger Hütte a year later. There he held positions of increasing responsibility in the following years, most recently he was appointed director in January 1999.

State Secretary

After the success of the CDU in the state elections in Saarland in 1999 and the subsequent formation of a government by Peter Müller , Hettrich was State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics and Labor from September 29, 1999. After changing the division, he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics and Science from September 3, 2007 to 2009.

Albert Hettrich has been the general representative of SHS since January 2010.

President of the Saarhütten Association

In addition to his role as general representative of SHS, Albert Hettrich took over the office of President of the Saarhütten Association from Roland Kratt on November 1, 2011 . He is head of the trade and employers' association of the steel industry in Saarland as well as Buderus Edelstahlwerke in Hesse and Badische Stahlwerke GmbH in Baden-Württemberg and, among other things, as the employer’s negotiator, is responsible for concluding collective bargaining with IG Metall .
