Albert Jacob Steinfeldt (first name also: Jakob , last name also: Steinfeld ; * June 4, 1741 in Hamburg ; † July 16, 1815 in Bergedorf ) was a German pianist , organist and composer .

Life

Albert Jacob Steinfeldt worked from 1765 to 1768 as organist at the Lutheran Katharinenkirche in Archangelsk , after a year in Saint Petersburg he returned to Hamburg in 1770. There he was elected organist at the Church of St. Petri and Pauli in Bergedorf in 1776 as the successor to the late Johann Peter Hasse, the younger brother of Johann Adolph Hasse . His son Jacob Steinfeldt (also a musician) was together with Friedrich Wilhelm Grund founder of the Hamburger Singakademie .

The organist at the Hamburg Cathedral and the main church Sankt Katharinen , Amandus Eberhard Rodatz , is one of Steinfeldt's students.
