Life

Albert Pfander was one of four children of the wine grower Wilhelm Friedrich Pfander and Wilhelmine Seibold. In 1938 he married the winemaker's daughter Frida Berner (* 1912). During the Second World War his parents' property was destroyed by air raids, which he rebuilt after returning from captivity.

Pfander was elected to the supervisory board of the Fellbach vineyard association in 1952, to the executive board in 1955 and as chairman of the executive board in 1957. Also in 1957, the Wetzstein and Holder land consolidation elected him to the board of directors. In 1963 he was elected chairman of the board of land consolidation Lämmler and Hinterer Berg. Albert Pfander also played an outstanding role in viticulture beyond Fellbach. In 1959 he became a member of the supervisory board, 1964 a member of the management board and, from 1967 to 1983, chairman of the board of directors of the Württemberg wine-growing cooperative. From 1973 to 1983 he was vice president of the Württemberg wine growers' association. He was a member of the consumer committee of the Raiffeisen-Schultze-Delitzsch regional association.

His merits include building up the cooperative cellars after the war, cleaning up the vineyards on difficult steep slopes, which was first practiced in Fellbach, and converting the wine press.

Honors

In 1968 Pfander was awarded the state medal of Baden-Württemberg in gold, in 1972 the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon and the Golden Raiffeisen Pin. In 1985 he received the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg .
