Albert Rau

Albert Pawlowitsch Rau ( Russian Альберт Павлович Рау ; born September 1, 1960 in Valerianowka, Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician.

Life

Albert Rau was born in 1960 in the village of Valerianowka in the Kustanai Oblast and belongs to the German minority in Kazakhstan. He studied at the Institute for Industry in Rudny , where he graduated in 1982 as an electrical engineer in the mining sector. In 2004 he received another degree from the Russian Academy of Economics and Public Service under the President of the Russian Federation .

He began his professional career at the KasSchachtRudStroi company in Rudny. After graduating from university, he first worked as a mechanic in the administration of the Kurzhunkol mine in the Kustanai Oblast and from 1986 he was chairman of the Kurzhunkol mine union. Between 1991 and 1992 he was the deputy head of the commercial administration of the Executive Committee of the Council of People's Deputies of the City of Lisakovsk . In the following two years he was its chairman and from 1993 to 1994 he was deputy head of the city council of Lisakovsk. From September 1994 Rau was mayor of the city. After more than ten years in this office, in December 2004 he became Deputy Äkim (Governor) of the Qostanai Region. From January 2007, he headed the Kazakh state company Saryarka. On January 23, 2008 he was then appointed Äkim of the Aqmola area . He held this post for almost two years after becoming First Deputy Minister for Industry and New Technologies in March 2010. After the dissolution of this ministry, he was the new Deputy Minister for Investment and Development from August 2014 and first Deputy Minister from November 2016. Since March 2017 he has been a member of the Mäschilis for the ruling party Nur Otan , where he is a member of the Finance and Budget Committee.
