Albert Ribaucour

Albert Ribaucour (born November 28, 1845 in Lille , † September 13, 1893 in Philippeville , Algeria ) was a French civil engineer and mathematician .

Ribaucour studied from 1865 at the École polytechnique and from 1867 at the Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées . He then worked as an engineer from 1870 on the Rochefort naval base , from 1873 in Draguignan , from 1878 in Aix-en-Provence and from 1886 in Algeria .

In his free time, he dealt with mathematics, especially with differential geometry and especially with minimal surfaces .
