Albert Rodenborch (* probably in Rotenburg (Wümme) ; † March 31, 1421 or subsequent years in Lübeck ) was a council secretary of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck and Lübeck canon .

Life

Albert Rodenburg probably came from Rotenburg an der Wümme, which is initially indicated by the name of origin , which, according to AC Højberg Christensen, is also confirmed by his written dialect. He studied at the University of Prague , where he received his bachelor's degree on July 15, 1376. From 1377 to 1385 he worked as council secretary for the Lübeck council and kept the Oberstadtbuch alternating with council secretary Johannes Vritze . In the Lübeck Niederstadtbuch he only made one entry on Palmarum in 1377. In connection with the bone tusk uprisings under Hinrik Paternostermaker in Lübeck, he took over their official role from 1385 in the city's betting book .

After his resignation as council secretary, he took on the assignment of the Hanseatic City Council messengers who met in Lübeck in April 1386 to travel to the Hanseatic Office in Bruges as the Hanseatic envoy to Flanders to represent the interests of the German merchant.

From January 27, 1381, Rodenborch can be verified as a canon in Lübeck, the last time as senior of the cathedral chapter on January 26, 1421. He was buried in Lübeck Cathedral. His grave slab has been preserved and is located as a (extremely worn) grave slab behind the high altar area of Lübeck Cathedral. The Rabundus legend is associated with his grave.
