Albert Schlunegger (* 1938 in Grindelwald ; † August 6, 2000 there ) was a Swiss ski racer and trainer.

biography

Schlunegger belonged to the SC Grindelwald and was the Bernese Oberland ski champion in 1958 and 1959 . After good results at the Swiss ski championships, he qualified for the Swiss national team in the early 1960s, first for the B and later for the A team. Internationally, however, he remained without major success. After his active career, Schlunegger was coach of the Swiss women's national team for three years in the summer of 1966, which at that time included Fernande Bochatay , Annerösli Zryd , Madeleine Wuilloud and Vreni Inäbnit . From 1974 to 1982 he was President of the Grindelwald Ski Club.

Albert Schlunegger worked as a mountain guide and died on August 6, 2000 together with two American guests when a mudslide escaped on a hiking trail in the First area .
