Albert Schmid (politician, 1943)

Albert Schmid (born November 15, 1943 in Augsburg-Göggingen ; † March 12, 2014 ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

Schmid attended grammar school and trained as a publishing clerk . He worked as a freelance sports journalist. In 1986 he became president of TSV Schwaben Augsburg . He was a member of the Kolping Family and in the Association of War Victims and Disabled . He was also district leader of the Schwaben water rescue service and chairman of the state committee of the water rescue service .

In 1963 Schmid joined the CSU. He was regional manager of the Junge Union Bayern and then head of the organization and administration department at the regional management of the CSU. From 1972 to 1985 he was a member of the Augsburg city ​​council. From 1978 to 2003 he sat in the Bavarian state parliament . He was always directly elected in the Augsburg-Stadt-West constituency.

Schmid was also President of the Bavarian Red Cross from 1997 to 1999 . He resigned in the course of a bribe scandal at the blood donation service of the Bavarian Red Cross. Two managers of the Bavarian Red Cross had to be arrested.
