Albert Schoop

Albert Schoop (born September 28, 1919 in Hauptwil ; † August 22, 1998 in Frauenfeld ; resident in Dozwil ) was a Swiss art historian , literary historian and author .

life and work

Albert Schoop was the son of the teacher and later justice of the peace Albert and Bertha, née Häberli. After graduating from the Kreuzlingen teacher training college from 1935 to 1939 , he studied art and German literary history at the University of Zurich and Geneva from 1940 to 1946. In 1947 he married Elisabeth Naef.

Schoop taught at the Swiss Alpine Middle School in Davos from 1946 to 1959 and at the Frauenfeld canton school until 1984 .

As the author and editor of numerous historical complete accounts, Schoop u. a. his two-volume main work on the life of Johann Konrad Kern and articles for the Thurgauer Jahrbuch .

Schoop was President of the Thurgau Museum Society from 1962 to 1982 and of the Historical Association of the Canton of Thurgau from 1982 to 1990 . The city of Frauenfeld honored him with the recognition award for his services .
